The Grading Process

Once Landlie has been contacted, your property is grade staked and graded to recieve "rough grade" approval. This means the clay is graded for positive drainage away from your home and meets the engineered design elevations. This is completed in a reasonable amount of time, keeping in mind that this process is weather dependent.

When the grading is complete, a request is made for an "As Built" Certificate from the land surveyor. From there, the certificate is forwarded to Landlie and the municipality (City/County) and an inspection is requested.

Once you receive "rough grade approval", landscaping can commence. A "final grade approval" is required on black dirt, sod 'may' be placed prior to applying. When the final grading/landscaping is complete a request is made for a final "as built" certificate from the land surveyor. From there, the certificate is forwarded to Landlie and the municipality (city/county) and an inspection is requested.

Each stage of the grading process is entered into Landlie's data base and is available for viewing. To access this information, please contact your builder or our office for your confidential password.

The municipality will forward the Inspection Report back to Landlie, advising of it's approval or non-approval status. If it is approved, you will receive a copy of the approval. If it is not approved, touch ups may be required and another inspection is then requested.
