Downspouts

Downspouts (roof leaders) carry roof water from eavestroughs to the drainage swales. The exceptions are in areas that are adjacent to a lake, ravine or river where there are requirements to connect the downspouts to a storm service for the purpose of minimizing soil erosion (A Geotechnical Engineer determines this prior to the development of the area).

The downspout must have an elbow and a hinged extension and/or concrete splash pad. The downspout elbow should be directed away from the foundation walls towards the drainage swales along the common property line. Downspout extensions or splash pads must not project past the property line.
